Over the past two weeks, over 3.5m people have watched the YouTube clip shot by SBS2 documenting my 28 day performance piece, Casting Off My Womb, at Darwin’s DVAA. The short clip, which SBS2 titled Vaginal Knitting, gives an overview of the work in which I used skeins of wool lodged in my vaginal tunnel to knit a long passage, marking one full menstrual cycle.
I am a poet and between different kind of artistic projects I am illustrating the poems from some manuscripts I have written for some years ago. Mostly of my illustrations, paintings and photos belongs to different poems. There is a reason that my works can differ so drastically from each other but it has with I am a versatile poet. I write not only about life and death and hope and longing, I also write tributes to nature, to life's journeys, to our inner awakening. Sometimes I let myself cradled in the cradle of surrealism to dream in the abstract, whose boundless breaks the shackles they were chained in.
