Painting and photography prize – Spain

Deadline: May 03 th 2013

A Spanish school announces a Painting and Photography prize. Any artist can participate, without limit of age, with a maximum of two works for author. The basic theme of the contest is “Traditions in Spain.”

Painting. Two categories: A. Free participation B. Local participants

Photography. Only one category.

TECHNIQUE.

The works will be in free, figurative or abstract style and free technique. For the photography, the images will be in black and white, or colour. It is essential that the works are introduced on rigid support and in perfect state of maintenance, works protected by glass won’t be admitted. The dimension of the works won’t be superior to 150×150 cms., neither inferior to 42×29´7 cms., A3 format. For the photos the established dimension is of 20X30 cm.

Prize of Euro 2000, for the category A.

Prize of Euro 800, for the category B.

Photography.

Prize of Euro 400, unique category.

The winning works will belong to the patrimony of the organizer.

Prize for art works in pencil – United Kingdom

An english company is delighted to announce an inaugural art prize for works created in pencil (including water-soluble, pastel, graphite, charcoal or colouring pencils). Photo contest

This contest awards every year the best images of nature.

There are various categories.

First prize of 10.000 pounds, around 12.000 Euro, / First prize between 1.500 and 1.000 pounds depending on the categories, although it is the big diffusion of the rewarded works the true value of the contest.

Call for an artistic mobile residence – Netherlands

Deadline: 1st of February 2013

On three different locations this program of residence will investigate the landscape, on different levels and in different projects and you are invited to write a proposal for one of these three locations in the Netherlands.

Accommodation: Two six-metre containers. One for living, one for working. Some tools and books. Electricity by solar panels, 600 litre of fresh water, a wood-burning stove and wood to make a fire. Technical assistance.

The program pays the following expenses per project: living, material and travel: €3000,-

After the project has been concluded and presented the artist/researcher/composer is expected to write a report and supplement it with visual and/or sound material.

Presentations and publication: The results of your stay will be shown to the audience. The aim is to present all projects that will take place in 2013 in book form.

Public Art Exhibition and prize – United States

Deadline: March 1, 2013

This Public Art Exhibition seeks proposals for sculpture engaged in a contemporary conversation about art within a natural environment. Up to twenty large-scale outdoor sculptures will be selected. All artists chosen to participate will be awarded a $2,000 participation stipend. One of the sculptures will be purchased for an amount of $25,000 to $75,000 then donated to the Town of Hilton Head Island’s growing public art collection. Three additional sculptures will be selected as “People’s Choice.” These artists will be awarded cash prizes with the possibility for an extended temporary leasing agreement.. The Public Art Exhibition will take place from mid-September, 2013 through Mid-January, 2014 and it estimates an audience of over 30,000 students, residents and tourists.

Portrait award – United Kingdom

Deadline: 11th of February 2013

The Portrait Award is open to all artists from around the world.

To be eligible for the Young Artist Award, artists must be 30 years of age or under as of 1 January 2013. The competition is limited to one entry per artist. The work must have been completed after 1 January 2012. No work previously submitted for the competition is eligible for resubmission.

The work entered must be predominantly painted in oil, tempera or acrylic and must be on a stretcher or board, preferably framed and unglazed. No watercolours, works on paper or pastels will be considered.

The work entered should be a painting based on a sitting or study from life and the human figure must predominate.

Self portraits and group portraits are permitted.

Paintings will be judged anonymously so preferably should not be signed on the front.

Minimum size: 25 x 20cm (10 x 8”) unframed. Any works smaller than this will not be considered.

Maximum size: 244 x 244cm (96 x 96”) framed. Please note that we cannot accept any works larger than this.

Multi part works (up to three parts) will be accepted and regarded as one work. Please bear in mind the above size restrictions and include full instructions for installation of the work.

THE AWARDS

First Prize: A cash award of £30,000, plus, at the judges’ discretion, a commission worth £5,000

Second Prize: £10,000 Young Artist Award: £7,000 All selected artists aged between 18 and 30 will automatically be considered for both the Young Artist Award and the Portrait Award, but an individual cannot win both. If there are no exhibitors aged 30 or under then no Young Artist Award will be given and the funds so available shall be used to offer a Third Prize. Travel Award 2012: £6,000 All selected artists will be eligible to submit a proposal for the Travel Award. The aim of the Award is to provide the opportunity for an artist to experience working in a different environment, in Britain or abroad, on a project related to portraiture. The winners and selected entries will be exhibited in London, from 20 June to 15 September 2013 and subsequently will tour to two further venues.

An 80-page catalogue (RRP £8.99), featuring all the selected artists, including an essay by a leading author, accompanies the exhibition.

Those short-listed for prizes must attend the Awards Ceremony and dinner on the evening of Tuesday 18 June 2013 and are also expected to attend the Press View on the morning of Wednesday 19 June 2013.

Call for Art wishes for 2013

Call for Art wishes to everybody a 2013 full of creative realizations and will continue in 2013 to offer always a better service so that creative talent can emerge and find ways of growth and expansion at international level. Painting prize on the army of the air – Spain

Deadline: April 15 th 2013

Spanish and foreigner artists can participate to this prize with individual works.

The thematic will have to be related with any historical or actual aspect of the army of the air, its unities and missions, the human component or the material means which it has available.

Only one work for artist will be admitted and it will have to be original and not winning in any other contest.

The works can be realized on any support and with any technique, of dimensions non inferior to 100 × 81 cm., neither superior to 200 ×s 200 cms. They must be mounted on looms or solid support and framed by a wood bar not superior to two centimeters.

First prize: 7.000 Euro.

Second prize: 3.500 Euro.

Sculpture prize – United Kingdom

Deadline: 31st of January 2013

An English Foundation launched a National Sculpture Prize with an annual prize fund of £15,000 in 2009 to provide an exciting challenge for new and emerging UK based sculptors.

The organization is looking for proposals that demonstrate the creative process clearly. As short-listed sculptures will be placed outdoors, participants must address issues regarding maintenance, durability and corrosion in their choice of materials. Ten short-listed sculptors will receive £1,000 each to create their final piece (this amount must cover all material costs for a new sculpture and all transportation costs to and from the Broomhill site). The final ten sculptures will be exhibited at a Sculpture Park from June 2013.

The judges’ winner will receive £3,500. This piece will become part of the Foundation collection.

The ‘Public Speaks’ winner will receive £1,500. This piece will be displayed on place for 1 year before moving to another place for a further year.

Call for an exhibition and a symposium – Germany

Deadline: 31st of January 2013

This annual international exhibition of visual arts takes place from June to the beginning of October. The art exhibited is selected by a jury and features all visual art media. Transport costs are covered by the artist. The exhibited works can be for sale. The organization will pass on the details of potential buyer and does not charge any commission. The Prize is of 10.000 Euro. The visitors can vote for their favourite artist. The three winning artists will be informed and invited to the prize-giving ceremony. Each award is worth 1.000 Euro.

Each year the exhibition is preceded by the international Symposium, bringing together different generations of artists to share experiences and make art . Approximately 10 artists are invited to attend the symposium and create large works (sculpture, installation, painting). The participants of the symposium are provided with materials (by agreement), a workplace, accommodation, food and travel cost support. The work created remains the property of the artist and will be exhibited for at least 2 years – with the exception of works, which are sold.

Photo contest – Spain

Deadline: February 04th 2013

Every candidate can send up to 4 photos that will have to be unpublished, not admitted or published for the participation to other contests.

The used technique and the dimensions of the photos will be completely free, provided that the works are introduced on a support of photographic paper. The works must obligatorily be mounted on a passepartout of around 40×50 cms of white or black color.

Every participant will introduce a reproduction of the introduced works at the same dimension in digital format JPEG and resolution 300 dpis.

People of any nationality can participate to the contest.

An exhibition will be organized with the selected and winning works from the 23rd of February to the 17th of March of 2013.

Call for photographic and video projects

Deadline: February 28 th 2013.

This event investigates the positive and constructive values of the accidental photographic error, not foreseen before, that in the moment of its happening decides the fates of a work or a project. The project considers all those photographic and video works in which an accident in the process of realization, a sudden and not foreseen cancellation, an unexpected happening in the development of the job or, contrarily, the search of an impossibility bring to the success of an art work. A total of 15 projects will be selected. Every project can contain a photographic project of 10 works (max 10 photos) and/or video (max. 10 minutes), and it must be equipped by a statement.

The prize is international. Italian and foreigners photographers and videoartists can participate, single or in group.

The fine arts prize in the present edition is open to Three-dimensional art works (Sculpture). They will have to be unpublished works, not introduced to another contest. International sculpture symposium – Vietnam

Deadline: 05th of February 2013

This International Stone Sculpture Symposium 2013 is now calling for artists to submit their proposals & artworks in the discipline of Stone Sculpture, from 05 Nov 2012 to 05 Feb 2013. The Symposium will take place in a town of Vietnam from 20 July 2013 to 16 August 2013 and totally select of 10 international artists and 10 Vietnamese artists to join the 03 week Symposium for creating artworks on-site and outdoor displaying in one week the Festival. The stipulated maximum dimension of artworks is 1m x1m x 2,5m of height and the material is stone provided by the organizer.

The organizer will cover all traveling cost for participant artists as well as the basic equipments, working material, 2 supporters for each artist. The selected Artist will be provided accommodation and daily meals during their stay in Vietnam.

A British Ceramics Biennial is inviting those working in all sectors of contemporary ceramics in the UK -professional craftspeople, designers, artists and producers – to submit work for consideration in three categories:

The Trust was set up in 1975 to make it possible for artists and those presenting their work to undertake and complete projects when frustrated by lack of funds. The Trustees’ main objective is to support new work. Grants are usually limited to £2,000. Sculpture Symposium 2013– Germany

Deadline: 31th of January , 2013

The Symposium will take place in a Castle from the 6th to the 15th of June 2013. The working topic is habitats. The available materials will be steel, stone or wood. Oaken trunks or larch trunks with about 4.00-m length and about 80 cm will be available for wooden sculptures. Seven artists will be selected fort he participation. The remuneration is 1,250.00 euro. The stay and food will be provided from the organization. The artist have to bring the individual tools.

Grants for artists in need – New York

Deadline: ongoing

This Foundation’s mission is to aid, internationally, those individuals who have worked as artists over a significant period of time. The Foundation’s dual criteria for grants are recognizable artistic merit and financial need, whether professional, personal or both.

The Foundation welcomes, throughout the year, applications from visual artists who are painters, sculptors and artists who work on paper, including printmakers. There are no deadlines. The Foundation encourages applications from artists who have genuine financial needs that are not necessarily catastrophic. Grants are intended for a one-year period of time. The Foundation will consider need on the part of an applicant for all legitimate expenditures relating to his or her professional work and personal living, including medical expenses. The size of the grant is determined by the individual circumstances of the artist. Professional exhibition history will be taken into consideration. Artists must be actively exhibiting their current work in professional artistic venues, such as gallery and museum spaces.

Award for Eco Art works

This award is open to all amateur and professional artists. There are six categories in which anyone can enter to win cash, prizes, national and international recognition

The categories are the following: Songwriting, Literature, Photography, Fine Art, Repurposed Materials in Art & Design, Short Videos. Each of the six categories has its own panel of expert jurors who will evaluate and select the winners of that particular category. There is an entry fee for each work entered. You may enter as many different works as you wish.

There will be a $2,000 cash prize to the Grand Prize Winner, $1,000 cash prize to the first place juried winner of each category, $500 cash prize to all second place winners, and $250 cash prize to all third place winners.

Fellowships around the sculpture – United Kingdom

Research Fellowships of this Institute are intended for artists, scholars and curators, working on historic and contemporary sculpture using the Institute’s library, archive of sculptors’ papers and the collection of Leeds Art Gallery. Up to 4 fellows will be given the opportunity to spend a month in Leeds to develop their own research. With access to the resources and an on-going dialogue with the Institute staff, fellows are free to pursue their own interests in a supportive and stimulating environment.

Senior Fellowships are intended to give established scholars (working on any aspect of sculpture) time and space to develop a research project free from their usual work commitments. Up to 2 senior fellowships, for periods of between 4 to 6 weeks will be offered.

Both fellowships provide accommodation, travel expenses and a per diem. The Institute offers the possibility of presenting finished research in published form, as a seminar, or as a small exhibition. The fellowships are an integral part of the research programme, presenting fresh perspectives on the Institute’s collections, opening up new collaborative possibilities and furthering research into sculpture.

Award for site specific projects – London

Deadline: 16th of January 2013

The award is open to artists living outside of the UK, up to five years from graduating from an undergraduate or postgraduate degree or under 35 years of age. The recipient of the award will have the unique opportunity to present their work at an important event in London on 2013 to a significant international audience. Additionally, the prize will cover production costs of up to 10,000 GBP, an artist’s fee, per diems, travel expenses and a studio residency at Gasworks in London from August to October 2013.Entrance to the award is by open submission and the winner will be selected by an international panel of artists and curators. The winner of the award will be announced in May 2013. Proposals for work can take the form of site-specific installations; performance; film; video or print work.

Competition for Digital Images “ACTS OF KINDNESS”- Italy

Deadline: 31st of August 2013

Typology: digital images on the theme “Acts of Kindness”. Call For Art, International Association of artists ( web page:www.callforart.com) organizes an online contest of digital Images on the theme of “Acts of kindness .” In a world more and more dominated by the egoism, the violence, fear and overcoming, the contest is aimed to bring the accent on the value of the gentleness as expression of the positive part of the human soul, of its ability of empathy and connection with the other beings, of its benevolence.

Call For Art therefore looks for images able to awaken and to promote the gentleness and the benevolence in every individual, images that go straight to the heart and speak of another possible way to live and to interact in the human society and with the natural environment.

The contest is open to artists of any nationality. Every artist can participate with only one image.

The required digital images can be reproductions of paintings, sketches, drawings, graphic design or photos, digital manipulations, video still, related to the theme “Acts of kindness”.

The original file must have the following dimensions:

OPTIMAL: cm. 50 in the largest side, 200 dpi (3937 pixels, in the largest side).

MINIMUM: cm. 50 in the largest side, definition: 50 dpi (984 pixels, in the largest side)

The original file must be reduced to be sent by the online procedure, but every participant will have to keep the original file.

The contest will be entirely judged by the staff of Call For Art.

The winning artist will be announced by September 07 th 2013 and liquidated through bank transfer by one month from the closing of the contest.

The contest will take place on line only. Candidates will send their images through direct upload on the web site and they won’t have in any case to send the original printings. The images of all the candidates will be visible to the public at the section “Competition acts of kindness” of the web site. The jury will evaluate the images directly viewing them from the web site. Besides the winning artist, a maximum of 20 images will be selected for their possible printing and exhibition in contexts to define.

All the participants to the competition agree to permit the use and publication of their images in case these were selected among the 20 chosen for the printing. The name of the author will always be mentioned.

 

Painting Contest – Spain

Deadline: January 25th 2013

For this XXII Painting Competition every author can introduce a maximum of two non winning works in other contests that won’t be inferior to 81×100 cms neither superior to 200×180 cms. These must be introduced framed at least by a bar and without been signed. Theme and technique are free. From the 1st of February to the 1st of March it will be organized an exhibition in the House of the Culture of the city with the selected works. First prize of Euro 4.500. Second prize of Euro 2.500.

Art works Acquisition Campaign – Italy

Deadline: April 30, 2013

A foundation in Italy opens a new acquisitions campaign dedicated to contemporary artists’ works created during 2012. All acquisitions will be selected by the Foundation only among the artworks subjected to evaluation. The estimated value of works acquisition must be indicated directly by the proponents. The evaluation proposals can be received from artists, groups of artists, organizations, private galleries and public institutions. It’s necessary that the proposed works are owned by the proposers. The works must have been completed not before 2012. The works must belong to the artists who in their careers have already exhibited at least in one personal or collective exhibition. The Art Foundation will evaluate all kinds of artworks, including video, installations and performances. The artists and group of artist can propose until 10 different artworks. The institutions and the galleries can propose until 3 artists, each one with up to 10 different artworks. The Foundation will carry out the evaluation and selection of the works to be acquired by June 30, 2013.

XIV Competition of contemporary painting – Spain

Any painter can participate to this XIV contemporary painting competition 2013. Authors will have complete liberty of theme, material, technique and aesthetical tendency. The dimensions of the works won’t overcome the 2 x 2 meters neither they will be inferior to 1 x 1 meter. The signed works must be introduced on a loom or rigid support, and framed by a wood auction of width non superior to 3 centimeters, The Jury will realize a selection of the works that will be exhibited from the 5th to the 19th of April 2013. It is foreseen only one prize of Euro 1.000. The winning work will remain ownership of the Town hall.

International sculpture symposium – Turkey

Deadline: 15th of May 2013

The aim of the symposium is to attract attention to ongoing dam lake projects being constructed on historical and cultural heritage areas regardless their value and the meaning. The Symposium will take place in a Turkish town between the 25th June– 25th July 2013 . A total of 12 international artists will be participating in the symposium. The organization will provide each artist with a maximum of 3m3 block/blocks of marble in total. In addition, materials needed for the mounting of the sculpture and the base –if specified in the application portfolio- will be provided by the organization. The symposium has no particular theme. However by the aim of the symposium, the artists are expected to work sensitively around the frame of the sustainability, conservation and awareness of historical, environmental, cultural heritage and value. The sculptures created in the frame of the symposium will remain in the possession of the organizer. The transportation expenses, accomodation and food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) will be covered by the organization. To each artist who has completed his work in the given time and place will be given a total of 2500 USD.

Sculpture symposium – Luxembourg

Deadline: 31st of January 2013

A Municipality in Luxembourg, organizes the 4th symposium of sculpture since the 22nd of May to the 2nd of June 2013. Sculptors’ number for this meeting is limited to 6. The artists will carve during a week and they will work a stone that will be financed by the organizer. Every sculptor will have available the materials and the requested equipments (electricity, compressed air and water). The sculptors will have to bring their own equipment. The theme of this edition is “Renaissance “. The realized works will have maximum dimensions of 150x80x80 cms. The stone to be carved is the blue stone of Belgium. Every sculptor will receive 1400 Euro as honorarium at the end of the symposium. The food and the lodging are paid by the organization for all the participating artists. Design Competition for a better living

The Competition was created in 2003 to promote environmental activism, social involvement, and entrepreneurship in young designers. The Competition is open to any designer or architect in practice for ten years or less, as well as design students. The $10,000 prize is intended to support designers whose entries reflect considerations of inclusive design, systems thinking, sustainability, materials exploration, progressive technologies, function, and provocative form. Each design should speak to at least one or several of the 6 sub-disciplines of design—architecture, urban planning, landscape design, interior design, product design, and graphic.

The organization asks young designers everywhere to think of their own mothers, fathers, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and friends. Their submissions should help their own relations, as well as others, to live better lives, beautifully.”

Up to three submissions will be accepted from an individual or team of collaborators. A separate application and entry fee is required for each project submitted.

For this Figurative Painting and Sculpture Competition 2013 any artist can introduce only one work, original and unpublished. Theme and technique are free, in the formality of Figurative Art. Painting: Minimum dimensions of 60×60 cm. and maximum of 300×200 cm. The works must be introduced without frame or framed by a simple bar. On the back of the works, please mark the title and the full name of the author. Sculpture: the maximum dimensions will be of 200 cms in its wider axle (plinth or support not included) and the minimum dimensions will be of 50 cms, without limit of weight. The material must be definitive. First prize for the painting of euro36.000. Fund of acquisition for the sculpture of Euro 44.000. Acquisition of works for an amount to be determined.

VIII Installations’ competition – Spain

The installation selected as First Prize will be exhibited from February 16 to March 22nd. This Installation will have available a prize European of Euro 3.000. The second prize is of 1.000 Euro and the Prize of the Jury is of 500 Euro. Every author can introduce a maximum of two Projects of Installation.

Works of any nature, technique, materials can integrate the installation (painting, sculpture,

drawing, engraving, photo, illustration, video art, cinema, electronic art, design, publicity, actors or actions of performers or interventions, light, sound, etc.) provided that their exhbition is safe for the public. Traditional Painting Competition – Usa

Deadline: 10th July 2013

The Chinese International Figure Painting Competition is one of a series of world cultural and art events sponsored by New Tang Dynasty Television (NTD Television). The Competition features works of figure oil painting expressing meritorious traditional virtues and values with classical western realistic methods. Its purpose is to promote cultural exchange and the art of figure painting that portrays pure truth, pure compassion, and pure beauty. Contestants must be either Chinese or Chinese descendents. The title and content of the painting should reflect traditional moral values, without traces or signs of the culture from the Chinese Communist Party, nor of those from modern arts. Each contestant is allowed to submit as many as three (3) original oil figure paintings created within the past five (5) years.

Contest of drawing and humor on the sport – Spain

A Spanish institution announces the II international Competition of drawing and the IV Competition of graphic humor that have as theme in general the sport. Any artist can participate.

DRAWING ON THE SPORT

The original sketches will be in black and white, in pencil, carboncino, Chinese ink, stilographic or normal link. Collage or any coloration won’t be admitted.

Every author can introduce up to two works. Please put only one sketch for frame.

The dimensions of the sketches will have to be included between 30 and 80 cms without frame and if necessary they will be framed with a wood bar of 2 cms, maximum. The sketches can be protected with metacrilato.

First prize of 3.000 Euro (three thousand), and two honorary mentions of Euro 1.000 each, granted for majority of votes.

HUMOR ON THE SPORT

The jokes or comic strips on the sport can be unpublished or edited, from whatever mean of publication, during the period from January to December 2012. A maximum of two works is admitted.

Residence for artists – USA

Deadline: 1st of April 2013

A Foundation provides a furnished apartment on the museum’s grounds and a studio in the far West Texas. Resident artists have unlimited access to foundation’s collection and archive, and the museum staff and interns are available to assist in securing materials and preparing exhibitions. A stipend of $1,000 is provided to assist with travel and art materials. The average residency lasts two to three months; Exhibitions are often held at the conclusion of the residency. These become an important part of the museum’s temporary exhibition program, and provide a vital counterpoint to the permanent collection.
